People keep asking all sorts of questions regarding the historically symbolic & iconic William Shakespeare. Some of the questions such as “Was Shakespeare in love with a man?”, “what did Shakespeare look like?” or “did Shakespeare suffer from domestic violence?” keep popping up about his personal life. Then there are matters pertaining to his professional life such as, “why did Shakespeare write Romeo and Juliet?” or “What year did Shakespeare write Romeo Juliet?” and so on so forth about his other writings as well.
Legend of Shakespeare’s Personal Life
Here, we will delve and look in to the first question quoted about his professional life. There two major & commonly heard (voiced) opinions for what inspired Shakespeare to write Romeo & Juliet. The first opinion says that Shakespeare was not happy with his wed lock union with Anne Hathaway; she was 26 and he was 18 when they tied the knot.
According to the legend, the marriage started out perfectly but with the passage of time, the love dried up and it was just two strangers living in the same house as man and wife; the flame of romance had been dimmed long time ago. So according to the first opinion, Shakespeare wanted to let young & budding lovers know that being in love is not all about rainbows & butterflies but rather the fact that there is a dark side to romance and love as well.
A Love Story Told Before
According to the second opinion, Romeo & Juliet was a duo of 2 real individuals who had lived approximately slightly over two and a half centuries before Shakespeare was born. The legend of their real life romance – which hails from the region of Verona in Italy – was first inked by Arthur Brooke in his publication titled ‘The Tragical Historye of Romeus & Juliet’. When Shakespeare came across Arthur’s work, he started to develop a play from the story and it came out in first half of the 1590s.
well, the second theory is very interesting but in my opinnion i lean more towards the first theory. Speaking of his marriage to Anne Hathaway, no one knew for sure if it was a happy or unhappy marriage. Though, we do know that William was in love with another woman wh ohappened to be named Anne as well. Also that one of the reasons he even married Anne HAthaway was because she was pregnant.
