What does Google Panda Look for?
Google Panda, the revised algorithm for search, 2011 has been the savior and downer for many websites along the blogosphere. Content websites which rely on massive content production instead of focusing on independent article quality and depth have received a big hit while sites with wide trust status stand to be major winners.
Amongst some of the major parameters affecting the change in rankings and results, sentence structure, syntax, styling, editing, grammar and spellings remain to be the top ones.
Matt Cutts’ Stance on Panda’s Preference for Good Grammar and Spelling
In response to a question about how spelling and grammar matter when Google evaluates site quality, Cutts says:
“We noticed a while ago that, if you look at the PageRank of a page — how reputable we think a particular page or site is — the ability to spell correlates relatively well with that. So, the reputable sites tend to spell better and the sites that are lower PageRank, or very low PageRank, tend not to spell as well.”
To the arising trend of correct grammar and spelling usage Matt Cutts said,
“would be pretty interesting to explore as a potential quality signal.”
