Writing Statistical Academic Report
You have got your academic assignment which asks for a statistical report on a particular area of interest. You use various techniques and gather the statistical data required. This is where the hard part begins—you don’t know what to include in your report and what should its format be. This article will help you organize your statistical data in the form of an academic report.
There are a few rules of thumb which if followed can result in a well composed report. Ideally, a statistical report is made of four sections—introduction, methodology, findings and conclusion.
Here is what you need to include in each section:
Introduction
You must begin with a 200 word abstract which will give the reader a snapshot of what your report is about. Make sure you don’t spill all your beans at once. Remember it is the abstract part which readers usually read so include all the important points of your work in it. After this part, you can give a few introduction paragraphs which will contain the purpose of your writing as well as general information about your topic in a way that it catches readers’ attention.
Methodology
In this section write about the various techniques you used to gather statistical data and the methods you applied to analyze it. Explain you statistical tool and calculations in detail.
Findings and Results
Here you need to present the analysis of your statistics along with their interpretation. Also explain the readers how you think these results support your topic.
Conclusion
In this last section, you are going to give an overview of your report, a few implications and also identify areas where your statistical analysis could be applied. It would be better if you include a page of bibliography after this section in order to support the authenticity of your report.
